Cristina Lesnic: Tiraspol rejects COVID-19 Working Group out of hand
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, said the so-called Tiraspol authorities have refused to set up a joint working group between doctors to combat COVID-19.
"In this crisis, we need support and effective communication. Chisinau and I personally have offered the possibility of holding a timely discussion in a working group between doctors.
Unfortunately, Tiraspol rejected this opportunity. Their approach was the focus on media misinformation campaigns. This wave of misinformation was aimed at Chisinau as someone who overrides Tiraspol's decisions," Cristina Lesnic said in a talk-show on TVR Moldova.
According to her, the authorities must be cautious because the process of pandemic prevention and containment can't be carried out separately.
"We had a request to the World Health Organization to be a party if we organize this working group between Chisinau and Tiraspol. Today we are in a situation where we do not have this working group and they don't want this working group", added Cristina Lesnic.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the import of medicines in the region is perfectly functional. There are no impediments in terms of food imports, and economic activities are carried out in exactly the same conditions as for economic agents registered on the right bank of the Dniester, Lesnic added.
