Customs Office supports prolongation of EUBAM mandate
General Director of Customs Office, Vitalie Vrabie had a meeting with Head of Mission of the EU Border Assistance to Moldova and Ukraine, Andrew Tesoriere, in which they set their priorities for cooperation in the context of establishing new format Mission operation after the extension of the mandate.
The Mission will focus on three thematic areas: implementation of the Integrated Border Management, the fight against crime throughout the segment of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border and implementation of Moldova-EU Association Agreement, including DCFTA.
The needs of the assistance for infrastructure development customs border posts and video surveillance systems were discussed at the meeting, representing both an element fraud, and a tool for monitoring employees to the exclusion of any incidents integrity.
Director General of Customs EUBAM thanked representatives for their support, noting that it contributed significantly to the strategic and operational capacity of the customs authority.
"Due to methodological and technical assistance delivered by the Mission, the Customs Service has become an institution rallied to Community standards in customs administration, which is why we support the need to extend the mandate of EUBAM and development projects initiated" , said Vitalie Vrabie.
In response, Andrew Tesoriere said that the developments by the Customs Service are showing a greater management and implementation of assistance projects, and a respect for principles of good governance.
