Customs Service cornerstone reform, expected to bring outstanding results
Starting next year, Moldova’s Customs Service (CS) will work under a new flow-chart implying transferring powers to customs offices and cutting the number of top managing positions.
Bigger salaries also envisaged, based on professional performance, said CS chief Vitalie Vrabie.
The new flowchart provides for merging seven customs offices and creating three subdivisions: in the north, center and south, as the number of employees will be lowered to 1,520, compared to 1,728 now.
"It’s important to insure the smooth functioning of the new structures, so that all the ones involved feel the efficiency of the operated optimization. The commitments assumed imply new requirements, a reason why I will further insist on enhancing employees’ professionalism and integrity, and the ones aligning to these new requirements will be duly remunerated," Vitalie Vrabie pointed out.
The new flowchart has been drafted with the assistance of the Customs EU High Advisor, Rosario de Blasio.
