Czechia and Slovakia helped improve water supply in southern Moldova
The project of building water supply and sanitation systems in schools of Leova raion, implemented by the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), have been concluded. This was announced at the Thursday's conference, dedicated to summarizing of the results of implementing a number of projects in Moldova, as stated by Infotag.
ADRA-Moldova Director Andrei Garleanu said that over 1.5 years since the start of the first project, systems of water filtration have been installed in schools of Covurlui, Borogani, Sarateni and Orac villages. Also, sewage water treatment plants were built for schools in Borogani, Covurlui, Sarateni and Tomai villages.
The second project will be finished in late September. It is aimed at supporting inclusive education, providing water and sanitation services in kindergartens in the south of Moldova. The contribution of the Czech Republic to the implementation of the project accounted for 445 thousand euros. Within the project, systems of water filtration and drainage were built in 10 pre-school institutions in Causeni raion.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Moldova Zdenek Krejci said that Moldova is one of priority countries for providing support. Czechia provides assistance to projects in such sectors as water supply and sanitation, social infrastructure, agriculture and efficient country administration.
Director of the Slovak Agency of International Development Cooperation Zuzana Letkova said that for Slovakia Moldova has many years been a priority country for cooperation in development.
"Our assistance is focused on two directions: efficient country management and water supply and sanitation. As for the second point, we are glad to cooperate with Czechia", she said.
