Economics minister says Moldova interested in expanding cooperation with World Economic Forum
Moldova is interested in deepening the relations with the World Economic Forum (WEF), which opens new opportunities for the country. The statement was made by the Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic at a meeting with WEF Executive Director Philipp Rosler in the Chinese city of Dalian, where the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also named Summer Davos, is held.
The WEF platform, which brings together more than 1,000 top companies of the world, opens new opportunities for Moldova to establish mutually advantageous partnerships, carry out strategies and programmes on development of the national economy, the economics minister said.
Calmic noted that another topic of interest in the process of bilateral cooperation with WEF consisted in identifying projects on consultancy and expertise on behalf of the World Economic Forum in the creation of public-private partnerships, promotion of economic diplomacy, working out strategies of sectoral development, as well as other fields of national interest, according to Moldpres.
For his part, the WEF executive director backed Moldovan government’s efforts in the process of the country’s modernization, re-launch of the national economy and setting strategic partnerships with the most important international organizations. In the context, Philipp Rosler praised the decision by the Moldovan authorities to participate in the Summer Davos in China, which represents a first step towards the principal forum from Davos, where heads of state, governments, political leaders and the most influential business people of the world discuss key problems on global challenges at a string of conferences.
According to Philipp Rosler, the establishment of cooperation relations between WEF and Moldova will allow the latter participating in world-level discussions on the global and regional economic agenda.
