Elders from Nemțeni village received free medical consultation
Elders from Nemțeni village, Hâncești district, received free medical consultation, within a project initiated by Older People's Organization of the Democratic Party, in partnership with Health Ministry.
Elders claim that they visit a doctor only when feeling extremely unwell, because the nearest hospital is 50 km away.
"I last went to the doctor half a year ago, because I cannot see nor walk. I am glad they came here."
"I am grateful they came here, because people might collapse before reaching the hospital."
"It is hard. It is very difficult for me to go to a doctor. Thank you!"
More often, patients complain of heart diseases, sore joints, hypertension and diabetes.
"This is good for those suffering from chronic illnesses and don't have the chance to go all the way to Hâncești" doctor Tatiana Ciubotaru said.
The project "Care for health" was initiated at the request of local authorities.
"In the context of the population ageing, of course Ministry of Health wishes to support people's health, especially elders."
"We wished to come with specialists requested by people."
Regional authorities wish to extend the project to Leuşeni, Sărata Galbenă and Ciuciuleni.
"If we do take care of our health, there are more chances to live longer and better. I consider this initiative to be welcomed and well-thought" president of Hâncești district, Ghenadie Buza said.
By the end of the year, elders from 23 villagers and 10 districts will benefit from free medical consultations.
