Estonia has donated to Moldova a lot including four inflatable tents, with a capacity of 15 beds, four electric heaters and five ecological toilets, necessary for the arrangement of mobile sorting centers. The lot, worth 50 thousand euros, was donated to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, through UNDP Moldova. So far, IGSU has not decided where the tents will be installed and how many employees will be involved in the sorting activities.

"The Ministry of Health has created those red and yellow areas. Currently, the commission for exceptional situations will be created directly in the coming days, and the members of the commission will determine where we will place the tents, which is strictly necessary. At the moment, we do not know what would be the territories, "said Svetlana Drobot, head of the Directorate for International Cooperation and Project Management.

IGSU representatives claim that such tents can be used both as centers for sorting people suspected of COVID-19, and as their temporary accommodation. They can also have other uses.

"These tents will obviously serve to combat COVID-19, they will be multifunctional. In tents of this type we can install staff for activity, sorting centers, but also for the regular staff when it is necessary to active in field conditions ", mentioned Mihail Harabagiu, head of IGSU.

Representatives of the Estonian Embassy and UNDP Moldova said the equipment would help combat the spread of the disease and manage the flow of patients.

"The Republic of Moldova is a friend with whom we have worked both in good times and in more difficult times. We hope that the equipment will be very useful for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, for those living in rural areas," said Olga Goncharova, of the Development Cooperation Department of Estonia in Moldova. 

"The more the pandemic crisis progresses, the greater the pressure on the shoulders of public institutions, especially those on the front line. For this reason, our task is to strengthen the prevention capacities, but also of the responsible institutions. The better they will be equipped, the easier we will be able to cope with the pandemic, "said Dima-Al-Khatib, the UNDP resident representative in the Republic of Moldova.

The Government of Estonia has also funded projects in the Republic of Moldova in the fields of health, economic development, anti-corruption and regional development.
