EU stands by Moldova in tackling coronavirus pandemic
The European Commission reiterated its support for Moldova during the pandemic. In a phone conversation with the head of Moldovan diplomacy, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, mentioned that a support package has been set up for the six Eastern Partnership countries, worth EUR 80 million for the immediate needs of the health sector and EUR 883 million for socio-economic rehabilitation.
From this support, Moldova will benefit in particular from 87 million euros from the redirected bilateral financing.
The European Commission has also adopted a proposal for a € 3 billion macro-financial assistance package for ten enlargement and neighborhood partners.
Under this proposal, Moldova could receive 100 million euros to help the country limit the negative economic impact of the pandemic.
