Every fifth patient with COVID-19 in Moldova aged between 50-60
40% of COVID-19 patients are over 50 years old. People past this age are most exposed to infection, according to the Ministry of Health.
Since the onset of the pandemic, most cases of COVID-19 have been reported in people aged between 50 and 60 - more than 10,500 or nearly 20% of the total number of infections.
8,500 cases are among people between 30 and 39 years old, as well as among those aged between 40 and 49 years.
Fewer cases of COVID-19 have been reported in adolescents and children. Those aged 10 to 19 represent almost 4%, and minors up to 10 years - less than 3%.
Ministry of Health statistics show that the disease has killed many elderly people, who are 60 and 69 years old. Almost 37% of the number of deaths are registered in this category of patients.
The virus killed 344 patients between the ages of 70 and 80, and there were 209 deaths among Moldovans between the ages of 50 and 59.
The fewest are among patients up to 39 years old. At the same time, since the beginning of the pandemic, only two children have been killed by COVID-19.
