UPDATE 12:25 The person who triggered the explosion passed away on site. According to the information, the man entered the convenience store and requested the saleswoman to give him a pack of cigarettes, promising to pay later. After he existed the store, the explosion took place. Another four people were shopping in the store at the time, luckily none of them were hurt. The man was taken to the nearest hospital.

The first pictures appeared from the site, where two people passed away and another two were injured, after a shop blew up. 

The tragedy took place in a convenience store, located at the intersection of Alexei Mateevici and Armenească Streets. The area is currently off-limits and the traffic is suspended. Police officers and doctors arrived on site.

Eyewitnesses claim that the explosion was caused by a man, who entered the store and requested to be given cigarettes for free.

"From our understanding the man was chased out by the store's guard and then he exploded."

People claim that the explosion could be hear from afar.

"I was passing by and heard the explosion, thought it was my tire. I exited the car and saw the convenience store. I approached it and saw two people on the ground, but I cannot say if they were dead or not."
