First steps go ahead on East–West Motorway: Romanian Senate endorses draft starting law
The Committee for Budget and Finance of the Romanian Senate endorsed the draft law on starting the works for Iasi-Târgu Mures Highway, according to Romanian Deputy Constantin Codreanu.
"We are all aware that this motorway will help the two banks of the Prut become closer, that's why we will monitor the legislative process of this project and insist that the Romanian Government assume the realization of this highway. Public pressure is an asset we must not give up, "Codreanu wrote in a social networking post.
According to the project, the highway Târgu Mureş - Iaşi, also called "Unity Highway", will have a length of 320 km and will comprise three sections: Târgu Mureş - Ditrău, Ditrău - Târgu Neamţ and Târgu Neamţ - Iaşi. The average travel speed will be 100 kilometers per hour, decreasing by around 40% the area traffic in peak hours, says tvrmoldova.md.
