375 medical staff in Moldova, who contracted COVID-19, will receive the one-off allowances worth 16 thousand lei. 

A decision in this regard was approved at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers. The government will allocate six million lei from the intervention fund.

The largest amount, almost three million lei, will be allocated to Chisinau and over one million lei will reach Soroca. These localities have the highest number of coronavirus-infected healthcare professionals. 

Previously, 29 doctors received one-off allowances worth 16 thousand lei after getting infected with COVID-19 at the workplace. 

The decision, however, sparked several criticism for around 300 doctors contracted coronavirus at that time. Until now, there are 552 medical staff tested positive for this deadly virus including four deaths.
