Igor Dodon: A second wave of infections hits Moldova
Moldovan authorities will manage the health situation more closely. The assurances come from President Igor Dodon, after the number of COVID-19 infections set new records. In a video on Facebook, the Head of state says that Moldova is now going through the second wave of infections and the outbreak occurred following the removal of several restrictions. The economic activity will certainly not be suspended nevertheless, says Dodon.
"All over the world, the number of cases in these two or three days has made a record. Because the restrictions have been lifted and it's the second wave. I'm firmly convinced that we will get through this wave, "said Igor Dodon.
The President also assures that Moldova is much better prepared to face the second wave.
"We will manage more carefully, the police in the street, the military in the street so as not to have these big flows. We have to face this wave together," the head of state said.
Igor Dodon also says that the authorities can no longer afford to impose economic restrictions again.
"Tough restrictions are not being reintroduced for economic activity. Imagine what will happen if we stop everything, close all the economic agents", Igor Dodon added.
Recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics show that the coronavirus pandemic has affected imports and exports. In April alone, exports fell 29 percent compared to March to nearly $ 150 million
