Interim Director of National Probation Inspectorate arrested for influence auction
Interim Director of the National Probation Inspectorate, Vladimir Popa, and the director of the company that won the auction of electronic equipment for monitoring detainees, Veaceslav Mârza, were detained by prosecutors and CNA officers.
The Justice Ministry has pledged all support in the investigation to elucidate all the circumstances.
"We regret that there are such cases and we hope that the suspicions of the CNA will not be confirmed. However, if they are true, all measure and investigation will be necessarily taken" said Rodion Guştiuc, press officer, Ministry of Justice
The Deputy Chief of the National Probation Inspectorate says he does not know about the way the auctions were organized.
The searches continue at the domicile of the interim director, but also at several economic agents.
Vladimir Popa has served as Deputy Head of the Central Probation Office for 2 years, and has been serving as chief since 2012. Between 2002 and 2007, Popa served as head of the Non-Sentencing Department, and then for three years he was head of the Probation Directorate.
