Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who is currently on an official visit to Brussels, has met today with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn. The two officials spoke of making National Information more secure, to avoid Republic of Moldova being attacked near general elections.

The officials have also discussed of the justice reform, combating corruption, improving business environment and development of civil society.

Here, Johannes Hahn made the following declarations for Republic of Moldova:

"Republic of Moldova took upon itself to continue implementing reforms. Therefore, I greet the progresses registered in the context of the Association Council.

I highlighted the necessity of structural and structured reforms. Efforts are further required, for all citizens to be able to enjoy the results of the association agreement.

I am happy that Mr. Prime Minister declared that the future general elections will not stand in the way of necessary reforms, because those reforms might not be welcomed by the citizens, but they are important for the country's future.

It was previously mentioned at the last Easter Partnership summit that member states have established 20 aims that must be reached by 2020. We wait for everyone to register progresses here. Otherwise, you will have to report any progress at the Ministerial meeting that will take place this October in Luxembourg, with member states of the Easter Partnership.

I highlighted the importance of combating corruption, as the Council wishes and mentioned in the recent conclusions for Republic of Moldova.

Reforms must be finalized in transparent way, without delays, accentuating on recovering the money from the bank fraud scandal.

I also remind that a reform is necessary at the justice system, for citizens to trust the institution again.

I congratulate you for the intentions and achievements in the justice system. I am sure that the changes are substantial.

We also reaffirm our wish to support Republic of Moldova in implementing reforms, for it to gain advantages for the citizens. EU assistance is based on certain actions. Each transaction, each payment will depend on the strategic and political measures foreseen in the memorandum.

Speaking of the macro-financial assistance, it is important for Moldova to continue its agreement with IMF and register progresses in combating corruption, respecting all principles of democracy" Johannes Hahn said.
