Leova district debates: Locals offer universities reform in country
The quality of university education in the country is poor and the number of higher education institutions should be reduced. The request comes from teachers and officials in Leova district, who had a meeting with the Minister of Youth, Victor Zubcu, and the Justice Minister, Vladimir Cebotari.
Locals claim that universities should prepare specialists according to the needs of the economy.
"We have devalued our universitary system. There are 34 universities for 3.5 million people. We have expanded a network of university and realized there is no ability to maintain its quality. This year we organised four contests for certain vacancies and still can not have a full staff" , said Minister of Youth and Sports, Victor Zubcu.
During the meeting with residents of the Tochile-Răducani village, the official spoke about development projects to keep young people in the villages.
At the end of the visit, the Minister of Youth and Justice visited the winery in the Tomai village, Leova district, where they got interested in the process of wine production. They also had a meeting with company employees.
