Defense Ministry held today an event to commemorate its 26th anniversary.

During the ceremony, Defense Minister Eugen Sturza congratulated all employees of the institution and offered a group of soldiers and public servants diplomas for their activity.

Eugen Sturza mentioned that in those 26 years, Ministry of Defense has proved that it can deliver good results, which contributed to the development and reformation in the defense area.

"Ministry of Defense is made by the people, the veterans that stood as pillars for this institution. In those 26 years, the whole personnel contributed, through effort and dedication, to maintain people's trust in the defense structure" Minister Sturza said.

Ministry of Defense was established on 5 February 1992, through a decree signed by President of Republic of Moldova. The institution is meant to elaborate and promote state's policies and ensure national safety, lead and coordinate the military in the area of defense and national security.

In 2018, the institution will concentrate on modernizing and equipping the National Army, enhancing the military infrastructure, using efficiently the offered opportunities for foreign assistance programs and perfect the management system of the defense resources.
