Ministry of Health has completed drafting new school and kindergarten's menu
The Ministry of Health has completed drafting the recommendations for a healthy diet and physical activity in schools. Starting September 1st they must be applied in all schools and kindergartens of the country.
The document indicates recommended and forbidden foods in all institutions of general education, children's nutritional needs depending on age and a flexible set of recipes that are prepared in schools and kindergartens.
The purpose of these recommendations is to improve children and teenager's health by providing balanced and rational nutrition in schools and kindergartens.
The new menus were developed for the first time for the cold and warm season of the year. They require a diet richer in fruits and vegetable, promotes drinking filtered and bottled watter consumption and provides the opportunities of physical activity in schools.
The menus include two days of obligatory fish, wholemeal products and dietetic foods for children with digestive disorders. At the same time, scientist have excluded meat products with food additives like sausages, fried fat food products and have reduced the amount of bread and pasta.
The decision also provides maintenance of sanitary rules, or food processing like eggs, meat, fish, dairy, vegetables and fruits etc.
