Moldova accommodates 7.5% increase of tourists
More and more tourists visit Moldova. The statistics office informs an increase of 7.5 per cent in the first half of 2017. In total, around 135 thousand tourists stay in Moldova accommodation. 65,000 of them are foreigners.
Most foreign visitors who stayed in the tourist complexes in the country come from Romania - over 24 percent. Of those who opted for hotels in our country, 13 per cent come from Ukraine, and nine per cent - from Russia. Many American and Turkish tourists also resided in our country.
National Bureau of Statistics data shows that most visitors, more than 82 thousand, preferred to stay in hotels and motels. More than 15 thousand resided in holiday villas and holiday villages, and another 13 thousand were in sanatoriums.
Official statistics also show that in the first half of the year, the average stay of a tourist in Moldovan accommodation units was five days.
