Moldova and Georgia build up business, tourism ties

The first meeting of the Georgia-Moldova economic cooperation council was held yesterday in Tbilisi to discuss the opportunities of developing economic cooperation and deepening trade ties between the countries, Agenda.ge reports.
"We strive to strengthen economic cooperation which, as of today, is very weak. Following this first economic cooperation council meeting we will start intensive work to find the proper sectors where there is opportunity to improve trade relations,” said Georgia’s Economy Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
The meeting also discussed ways on how to deepen cooperation in the fields of transport, tourism, energy, innovations, environmental protection, culture and education. In terms of tourism cooperation the first step was made today when Georgia and Moldova signed an agreement on cooperation in the fields of tourism.
Meanwhile, during the meeting both countries have signed another agreement which was about establishing the joint economic cooperation council.
Moldova’s Regional Development and Constructions Minister Vasile Bitca is also visiting Tbilisi. While in Tbilisi Bitca met with Gakharia where trade-economic cooperation was high on agenda. The minister talked about how to develop further the existing relations and boost export opportunities.
