Moldova aspires clear perspective provided by EU regarding Eastern Partnership
Moldova, together with Georgia and Ukraine wants to obtain a clear perspective provided by the EU in the Eastern Partnership. The statement was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip after the PDM weekly meeting, where the topic of Prime Minister's working visit to New York was discussed.
The Eastern Partnership Summit is scheduled in Brussels this November.
In this context, the prime minister reiterated the importance of this platform for our country, noting that the success of the Eastern Partnership will be a success for the Member States and the European Union.
"We want to see a light at the end of the tunnel.
"At the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly we also asked for further international support for raising the issue of foreign armed forces in Moldovan territory on session agenda.
"Moreover, we received great advocacy from United States Under Secretary of State, Thomas A. Shannon Jr., with whom we discussed the withdrawal of foreign military forces in country, strategic relations between Moldova - U.S.A by conducting meetings at the level of Coordinators and Sectoral Working Groups.
"We have also emphasized on the US support for the National Army and the issues we have faced so far, I refer to the participation of the military in various applications overseas as well as the issue of absence of Defense Minister.
"Beside, we participated the meeting of Socialist International, where the Transnistrian issues were on the table," said Pavel Filip.
PUBLIKA.MD reminds that Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated in the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly (UN), which took place in New York during 19-22 September.
During the UN General Assembly's general debate session, Pavel Filip delivered a speech on behalf of the Republic of Moldova. Also, in the margins of the UN reunion, the prime minister had a series of bilateral meetings with heads of state and government, as well as with US, European and United Nations officials.
