Moldovan deputy foreign minister meets international observers of OSCE, European Parliament
Deputy Foreign Minister Lilian Darii met with officials of the International Election Observation Mission of the OSCE/ODIHR, the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Moldpres reports.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii had a meeting today with the leadership of the Election Observation Mission (EOM) of the OSCE/ODIHR, the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which has been deployed for the monitoring of Presidential Elections in the Republic of Moldova.
The EOM officials presented the preliminary findings and conclusions of the monitoring of presidential poll. The officials also underlined the efficient cooperation with the elections administration bodies, electoral contenders, relevant state institutions and civil society.
At the same time, the EOM representatives highlighted the need to improve the legal framework for the administration of the run-off presidential elections, the activity of media monitoring institutions. They added that, once the work of the EOM is completed, the ODIHR/OSCE will issue concrete recommendations as regards the improving of the electoral legal and institutional frameworks.
For his part, Deputy Minister Darii thanked the international observers for the EOM activity and underlined that the results and the conclusions of the monitoring, presented traditionally by ODIHR/OSCE, would serve as important guidelines for improving the national electoral legal basis and its further adjustment to the international standards and practices
