Moldovans ate more cakes and drank more wine Sales of MILLIONS OF LEI for Easter
This year for Easter Moldovans ate more cakes and drank more wine. The sales in this period increased with almost 20 % to the last year. The traders expect a big flow of buyers and before Memorial Easter.
The greatest bakery company sell this year over 300 thousand cakes.
Boris Andros, the director of the Bakery Company mentioned:
"It’s 12 tons better than in the last year. We already have 154 tons, and for Memorial Easter we plan to deliver around 15-20 tons".
There were sold products in total sum of 8 million euro 700 thousand lei in the last two weeks.
"We plan to reach around 10 milion lei. We didn’t increase the prices this year. The mnimum price starts from eight lei and the highest 120 lei", specified Andros.

Sorin Maslo, commercial director of wine company said:
"It’s an increase of 20% to the similar period of the last year ".
The sales of the eggs decreased, on the other side. This is what the traders from the Central Market of the Capital say:
"30 boxes were finished. It wasn’t this way for three days. 10 boxes a day means 3 600 daily and in three days there are 10 800".
"The last year the eggs were a lot cheaper first of all. The eggs costed till 13 lei then.
- How much did they cost this year?
-16, 17. They are expensive".
The buyers say that the prices for the Easter products are reasonable even so:
"They aren’t too exaggerated, I’d say, normal. The prices are okay, as for me. These are the same prices to the last year".
"It was cheaper on Saturday. As for me, I’m waiting for Memorial Easter so that on Friday, Saturday they will get cheaper.”
There is expected a new flow of buyers in the markets and the supermarkets of the country on Friday and on Saturday. The orthodox Christians celebrate Memorial Easter on 22 and 23 April.
