Moldovans sentenced to prison for stealing paintings in Verona

Two Moldovans have been accused of stealing 17 paintings from a museum in Verona and received their punishment from an Italian court.
The two Moldovans have collaborated with the investigation. The first one was sentenced to three years and four months in prison, and the second to one year and eight months in prison.
Two others ones are to appear in court in a week.
According to Italian media, five other will face trial in Moldova. Prosecutors call for 33 years of punishment in total for all 12 persons involved in robbery: nine Moldovans, two Italians and a Romanian.
The 17 paintings from Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, worth 20 million euros were stolen in November 2015.
In May 2016, the paintings were found in a forest in Ukraine, near the border with Moldova.
The paintings are currently in a museum in Kiev, but will be transferred to Verona.
