A new fire station for volunteer firefighters was opened in Speia village, Anenii Noi. There, 16 volunteers will offer assistance to the over 12 000 people living in Șerpeni, Telița, Puhăceni and Delacău villages. The event was attended by Minister of Internal Affairs, Alexandru Jizdan, leadership of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, local Mayor, rescuers and firefighters, APL representatives and locals.
Minister Jizdan declared that the creation of this station would not have been possible without collaboration with the Local Public Administration, and the interest of people who wish to assist others and accepted to become volunteer firefighters.
"Due to this station, our villages will feel safer, while the security will grow once people and General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations staff will work together in emergency situations" Minister said.
General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations offered to the volunteer firefighters a fire engine and training.
At the same time, General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations signed an agreement with the Public Association Terra Valahia. It will allow joint intervention of firefighters and Terra Valahia team in emergency situations.
Since 2011, over 40 fire stations were opened in Republic of Moldova, within the Relief and Fire Service Consolidation Program, while by 2020 another over 100 fire stations will open.
