New techniques of informing population about emergency situations
Today, at the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations there were presented some techniques of announcement in emergency situations. The presentation was made by a group of specialists from Lithuania.
The information was received by the GIES, the Institute of Seismology and Geology, Hydrometeorology Service and others. The experts presented the announcement system from Lithuania and the possibility of its implementation in Moldova.
According to the specialists the ''Mass-alert'' works in emergency situations and people can receive messages according to weather alert, floods, fire, traffic-jams after accidents and so on.
Those who have the application in their cell-phones are alerted with a specific sound that doesn't stop till the owner reads the message. According to the experts, three million people from Lithuania can be informed about the emergency situation, in two minutes.
Such systems there are in the USA, Japan, the Netherlands and Israel. Those systems are very important, because it helps preventing the risks in emergency situations. The system has been practiced in Lithuania for already 5 years. The project was released due to the financial support of the European Union.
In Republic of Moldova, the actual way of informing the population about the emergency situations is due to the street sirens.
