Pavel Filip met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Grigory Karasin
The recent development in Moldova - Russia relations, as well as the need to identify solutions on sensible subjects from the bilateral agenda were discussed today during a meeting between Prime Minister Pavel Filip and State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia, Grigory Karasin, who is currently paying a visit to Republic of Moldova.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip mentioned that Republic of Moldova wishes to have better relations with Russia, but it requires pragmatic development based on mutual respect from both states.
The officials highlighted the importance of platforms for external dialogue, as well as consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation, by strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Particularly, Prime Minister reiterated the importance of overcoming the abuse toward Moldovan officials and investigating the money laundering committed through Moldova's banking system.
Another discussed subject was Transnistria, namely the protocols signed during last year, contributing to improving the lives of citizens from both banks of Dniester.
Pavel Filip also reminded Republic of Moldova's request for Russia to withdraw its troops and ammunition located on our country's territory. Progress in this area could facilitate to identifying solutions to the issues between Transnistria and Moldova.
