People with special needs no longer worry about right violations. Government passed free phone support regulation
Disabled people will receive free phone support. The Executive approve Wednesday the Regulation to organize and operate free phone support service for people with special needs.
This service seeks to prevent and reduce violation of rights of persons with disabilities.
By calling the free phone number, people with special needs will receive informational support, counseling and report suspected cases of violation of rights or risk situations. Competent bodies and partner organization will identify tackle cases.
The non-stop service can be access from the country and abroad. The cost of internal calls is borne by the service provider and the external calls - the caller. Service can also be contacted through WhatsApp, Viber, Skype, or SMS.
The consultancy services will be provided by an accredited provider contracted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.
The service is intended for both people with disabilities and their families, members of the community and professionals in the field. For the activity of the Service, more than 963 thousand lei are foreseen in the state budget for the current year.
Free telephone help for people with disabilities was launched in January 2017 as part of an EU funded civil society project. For 2 years, over 3200 calls have been received, with 22% more calls in 2018 compared to 2017.
The service is a state's response to reducing cases of violation of the rights of people with special needs, as well as to fulfilling the commitments assumed by the ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. More than 180 thousand people with special needs live in the Republic of Moldova.
