Project of national importance. Construction of Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline to start in 2018
The Ministry of Economy has presented for public debate all localities where the Ungheni-Chisinau pipeline will pass through. The project is of national importance, meaning that the state will posses the land. 600 thousand euros will be provided as compensation for the owners of the land.
The construction of the pipeline will begin next year and it will have a length of about 120 kilometers. The pipeline will pass through 25 municipalities in the Ungheni, Nisporeni, Straseni, Calarasi districts and in Chisinau.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and European Investment Bank offers a loan of 41 million euros, while the European Commission has given our country a grant of ten million euros. The Government's contribution in 2017 will be of 22.3 million lei.
The Chisinau-Ungheni pipeline's capacity is estimated at 1.5 billion cubic meter per year. The project will be completed in over two years.
