Prosecutor General requests to suspend execution of sentence in Veaceslav Platon case
Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo requests the suspension of the execution of Veaceslav Platon's sentence. The approach has already been submitted to the magistrates' table. According to the journalists from deschide.md, Alexandr Stoianoglo submitted the request based on an article from the Code of Criminal Procedure, which stipulates that, during the investigation of the new circumstances discovered, The Prosecutor General is entitled to file a motion to suspend the execution of the decision within the limits of the request for review.
The quoted source also notes that the request of the chief prosecutor was registered at the Chisinau Court based in the Ciocana sector and will be examined by magistrate Victor Rățoi, who ordered the arrest and release of former Prime Minister Vlad Filat.

Ion Cretu, one of Platon's lawyers said he found out about this from the press but said he welcomed the move.

Veaceslav Platon was sentenced to 18 years in prison for fraud and money laundering in the Banca De Economii case.
Recently, Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo announced that he wants to review Veaceslav Platon's case because he considers that he was convicted illegally.
