Vecaeslav Platon released from prison
Veaceslav Platon was released from prison today. According to Platon's lawyer, Ion Cretu, the request to suspend the execution of the sentence, submitted by the Prosecutor General, Alexandr Stoianoglo, was admitted.
The information was confirmed for Publika TV by the press officer of the National Administration of the Penitentiary, Oleg Pantea, who stated that the institution is awaiting the written decision of the magistrates from the Chisinau Court based in the Ciocana sector regarding the release of Veaceslav Platon.
The interim head of the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, Ion Caracuian, has not yet answered the phone to tell us whether or not the accusers will challenge today's decision in the higher court.
Veaceslav Platon was sentenced to 18 years in prison for fraud and money laundering in the BEM case.
Recently, Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo announced that he wanted to review Veaceslav Platon's case because he considered that Platon was convicted illegally.
