The Cabinets from Chisinau and Bucharest have held a joint sitting in the Romanian city of Piatra Neamt.

Moldovan Premier Pavel Filip has stated: "We’re grateful for Romania’s continuing to support Moldova, and this matters a lot to us. After a year of work, the Moldovan Government can say it has managed to largely stabilize the situation and improve it politically, socially, economically and financially."

He has appreciated Romania’s openness to provide a loan of 150 mn euros to Moldova for a 5-year period. The first two installments were disbursed in August 2016 and in February 2017.

EUR22.44 mn from a Romanian grant of 100 mn have been used up to now to refurbish Moldovan kindergartens and buy school buses.

The Romanian Prime Minister has said the relation between the two countries remains special. Sorin Grindeanu has appreciated the accomplishments by the Chișinău Government in 2016, mentioning the successful implementation of reform roadmap and reaching the IMF program.

"Romania pleads for the continuation of reforms. We’ll further back up the reforms on strengthening the state institutions, democracy and rule of law. The Romanian assistance will go being determined by the rhythm and irreversibility of the structural reforms you committed to," Sorin Grindeanu said.

The officials have also touched upon the projects of electricity and gas intertwining, as Pavel Filip has emphasized connecting Moldova to the European power grid is very important for Moldova’s energy security.
