Speaker Andrian Candu: Moldova is becoming a security provider state (PHOTO)
The number of military engaged in peacekeeping missions should increase. The statement was made by Andrian Candu, Speaker of the Parliament on the occasion of the International Day of UN peacekeeping troops. The importance of involving men as well as women has also been highlighted.
Andrian Candu has also thanked everyone for their devotion and sacrifice to their country in peacekeeping missions. Four soldiers have received honors.
The Deputy Defense Minister Gheorghe Galbura, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Permanent Representative in Moldova, Dafina Gercheva, military attachés accredited to Chisinau, National Army soldiers have attended the event.
The National Army militaries have been involved in peacekeeping operations in Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sudan, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Iraq, Georgia, Tajikistan, Ukraine with 20 years of peacekeeping operations.
