Statements of candidates for Chisinau mayoralty: Ion Ceban proposed bloc ACUM to create alliance in CMC
Socialist Party candidate for Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban proposed bloc ACUM to make an alliance in Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) and divide the positions between them.
"In CMC, Socialist Party won the first place with 22 out of 51 mandates. Bloc ACUM gained 19 mandates. I have a proposal that Socialist Party and bloc ACUM will make an alliance and draw up several priorities. If I become Chisinau Mayor, 2 out of 4 Chisinau deputy mayors will be appointed by bloc ACUM", Ion Ceban proposed.
"Moreover, 2 out of 5 heads of Chisinau's districts will belong to bloc ACUM. In this majority coalition, CMC president will also belong to bloc ACUM so we have a balance in power distribution.
In addition, we will have councilors each of whom I will collaborate apart from the ones who have problem of integration. My offer regarding this respect is: I will propose a new city planning department and its leader to be Victor Chironda", said Ion Ceban.
Candidate Dorin Chirtoaca publicly opposed Ion Ceban, Socialist Party and President Igor Dodon. The statement was made in a press briefing on Monday, 21 October.
"The second round of local election will be obviously neither for Andrei Nastase nor Ceban. If Nastase is elected, it will depend on him, bloc ACUM and especially Maia Sandu. We condemn Ceban, Socialists, Igor Dodon who must be removed from the position of President. Either Nastase or Ceban won't deserve to enter the second round", the Liberal Party leader mentioned.
Meanwhile, he urged the citizens to support the pro-European candidates.
"I observed that everyone voted rationally like in European Union countries".
Octavian Ticu, candidate of National Unity Party, spoke about the motives he launched electoral campaigns.
"We have two elections this year, parliamentary and local elections. On February 24, in constituency no. 16 Ungheni, I picked up 9000 votes including 5500 votes in Ungheni municipality.
In this election, nearly 11,000 people voted for my candidacy for Chisinau mayoralty. Totally I gained almost 20,000 votes this year.
"Five percent of votes shows a considerable respect for me because they encourage me and enhance my confidence in keeping my political life without being influenced and intimidated.
It was a campaign in which I was subjected to an unprecedented media lynch mod. As you know, my athletic and academic reputation has been flawless throughout my life. I'm referring to the attacks within bloc ACUM, from unionists and Socialist Party through various troll networks.
I launched this campaign on September 29 and in three weeks, I managed to create an alternative political platform to this collusion between bloc ACUM and PSRM which I assure you will become more intense because there is no alternative and constructive political opposition at the moment."
Democratic Party candidate Vladimir Cebotari pledged that the PDM team will work in CMC to fulfill and implement commitments made in his electoral program.
"The citizens of Chisinau municipality elected the CMC members and candidates who will enter the second round of local elections. The PDM gained almost twice the votes although it's quite modest. The PDM team will work hard in CMC to fulfill the commitments we made in the electoral program. Meanwhile, PDM also won nearly 19% of the total number of mayors in the country, even in the first round. We have a second round ahead", wrote the PDM candidate on Facebook.
