The three leptospirosis patients are being kept for further investigation in the Hospital for Infectious Disease “Toma Ciorba” from the Capital. According to the doctors, the patient from Briceni is currently in critical condition.

The physicians hope to release the two patients from Chisinau, as their condition improved and they are feeling better. The two men caught the disease while fishing.

The other two citizens from Cahul, who were found infected with tularemia, are now being kept under the watchful eye of their general practitioners.

According to the specialists, both leptospirosis and tularemia are transmitted from contaminated animals and can be fatal if not cured in time. 

Their symptoms are: weakness, high fever, joint pain, abdominal pain, red eyes and chills.
