Two policemen from Drochia arrested on bribery charges
The employees of MAI IP PGI Drochia were handcuffed by the MAI Interior Defense Service and Anti-corruption officers (SPIA), anti-corruption prosecutors being accused of swindling 300 euros out of a driver.
Inspectors requested to be paid 300 euros to cover-up the fact of leaving the scene of a car crash and file a contravention lawsuit under article 243 from Contravention Code.
Following the unfurling of the special investigative measures, criminal prosecution and thorough search of the car belonging to one of the inspectors was found the amount of 250 euros.
The two policemen are charged on passive corruption. If proven guilty, they risk imprisonment from 5 to 10 years with a fine of up to 8,000 contravention units and deprivation of the right to detain certain public functions or exercise certain activities for a period from 7 to 10 years.
