Will Moldova purchase Russian COVID-19 vaccine?
Moldova will purchase COVID-19 vaccine that the World Health Organization approves, PM Ion Chicu declared in an interview for PRIME TV.
President Igor Dodon said last week that Moldova would order Russian vaccine if international norms allow Russia to export it.
Ion Chicu assured the citizens that Moldova will only opt for a vaccine that meets international standards, regardless of the country that developed it.
- We have been communicating with the World Health Organization since February. We will be registered once the vaccine appears. When the World Health Organization comes with confirmations that this vaccine is good to apply, we will receive it.
- But the Government will not purchase without the approval of the competent institutions?
- Definitely not! We need all this confirmation, opinions.
According to President Igor Dodon, he already informed Russia that Moldova is interested in purchasing Russian vaccine.
"We have officially addressed our partners in the Russian Federation that when they decide to export this vaccine that meet the international standards, it will be delivered to the Republic of Moldova".
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last week that his country registered the world's first vaccine for the coronavirus, after less than two months of human testing on fewer than 100 people.
In the United States, the Trump administration partnered with the private sector to deliver 300 million doses by January 2021. And China has already offered an experimental vaccine to employees of state-run companies.
