Writing Moldovan language in Latin alphabets punished 50 EUR in Transistria
Mere use of Latin alphabets for the so-called Moldovan language (Romanian language with Cyrillic characters) can be punished over 50 EUR in Transnistria, where education right is subject to numerous restrictions regarding Latin script. This was mentioned in a report by Promo-LEX (a non-governmental organization from Chisinau), also showing that no improvements have been made on the human rights situation on the left bank of the Dniester River in the first half of this year, Agerpres.ro writes.
According to the mentioned report, the Evrica high school from Râbniţa - the only one where students are taught in Romanian language in this industrial city in Transnistria - is obliged to pay over 30,000 euros annually for renting space. In fact, the high school administration has repeatedly denounced the high rent price, unjustified tariffs for communal services, taxing collaborators and pressure on teachers and students from Tiraspol structures.
In the Transnistrian region, eight Latin-script schools are active: Alexandru cel Bun High School in Tighina / Bender; Stefan cel Mare High School in Grigoriopol; Lucian Blaga High School in Tiraspol; Evrika High School in Ribnita; Mihai Eminescu High School in Dubasari; gymnasiums in the Corjova and Roghi localities, and the boarding school for orphaned children in Tighina / Bender.
In 33 institutions in the Transnistrian region, Romanian-speaking pupils learn from the textbooks according to the curriculum of the Russian Federation only when the language is translated in Cyrillic language, wrote the newspaper Ziarul de Garda in Chisinau.
Regarding respect for human rights, Promo-Lex points out that in the first half of 2017 the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) issued four judgments for rights of inhabitants of the Dniester's left bank, which forced Russia to pay the applicants over 200,000 euro.
On the other hand, the above NGO signals that, following the decision of the Constitutional Court in Chisinau, which declared illegal troops and military bases on the left bank of the Nistru - Moldova territory but controlled by other states - Tiraspol made the mechanism to acquire the citizenship of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic for the Russian soldiers.
