The 200,000 doses were received at the National Vaccine Depot at the National Center for Public Health (CNSP) of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection (MSMPS).
In the next period, the vaccine will be distributed to the public healthcare institutions, after that will start the Immunization Campaign against seasonal influenza and the risk of illness (chronic illnesses, medical workers, carabinieri employees and border guards, the Service of Emergency Situations and Customs Service, social welfare institutions, children from orphanages, etc.).
The benefits of influenza vaccination are: reducing the risk of developing severe forms of illness and the number of illnesses, visits to doctors, working days or studies, and preventing complications, hospitalization and deaths caused by influenza.
The influenza vaccine only protects against influenza caused by seasonal viruses A (H1N1), A (H3N2) and B, and in case of other acute viral respiratory infections.
MSMPS informs that vaccination is the safest and most effective way to prevent influenza illnesses and recommends that all those in high-risk disease categories ask for these free vaccinations.
