Government to reduce nicotine intake in Moldova by 2021
The Government has approved Wednesday a new project that will reduce nicotine intake and improve the overall health of the citizens by 2021.
This document will include registering all deaths and cigarettes interests tied to smoking. As well as the identification and recording over 80% of the population consuming nicotine.
New programs for nicotine addiction will also be established.
Moreover illegal import and export of this products will be stopped, as well as a more severe punishment introduced for minors smoking under 18.
According to the Ministry of Health, Work and Social Welfare around 4.700 deaths, or 12%, out of 39.000 registered annually in the Republic of Moldova are caused due to illnesses tied with smoking, or being exposed to it.
