A young Moldovan was caught carrying three parcels of smuggled cigarettes, according to the NORD regional investigation officers.

Border police officers have launched several actions to prevent and combat illicit goods transport at the "green" border.

Accordingly, the police crew noticed a man on the Prut river, carrying suspicious packages. The man was intervened but he tried to flee, leaving the parcels. He was caught by the police right away. 

After searches, the man was determined to originate from Briceni, aged 29. He recognized his intention to send cigarettes to a stranger in Romania. 

2500 cigarette packs Ritm were found in three parcels. They were lifted and stored at the SPF headquarters "Lipcani", until the circumstances were elucidated.
