Over 40 million lei will be allocated in the next three years in the National Immunization Program. A decision to this effect was taken jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Sabin Vaccine Institute organization.
Last year, the government has approved the fifth National Immunization Program, which provides vaccination to 95 percent of the population by 2020.
According to doctors, immunization is the most effective method of preventing infectious diseases, complications and premature deaths. Every year, three million people worldwide are being saved due to vaccination.
Fewer cases of diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus have been reported, and the rate of children infected with hepatitis B has decreased by over 20 times.
