Prosecutor from Edineţ, to be sued: Causes investigator is accused
A prosecutor from Edineţ to appear on the accused’ bench. Reason: passive corruption.
The General Prosecutor opened a file regarding him in February this year, having as basis a denouncement in which there were complained the corruption actions of the investigator.
The prosecutor might have requested 20.000 lei for the stopping of the investigation concerning a person investigated for the theft of a mobile phone.
The investigator was detained in the very center of Edineţ, while he was receiving the last tranche of the requested sum. The suspect is searched in arrest custody at his home.
The accused, aged 42, who was employed in the staff of the prosecution’s body beginning with 1998, was dismissed.
The prosecutor risks prison from la 7 to15 years if found guilty, with a fine in sum of 8.000 to 10.000 conventional units and deprivation of the right to hold certain public positions or exercise a certain activity on a term of 10 to 15 years.
