Second round of local legislative elections in Gagauz Autonomy
Residents of the Gagauz autonomy are expected to cast ballots today, December 4th, and choose from 18 out of the 35 deputies of the People's Assembly.
The second round of elections will be held in 14 places where, two weeks ago, no candidate has completed at least 50-per-cent of the vote.
In Besalma village, Comrat district, the results were canceled due to irregularities detected during the electoral process. Other three elections were declared invalid because of low.
80,000 ballots were printed for the first round of elections.
According to the latest data of the Gagauz Election Commission, turnout in 09 a.m was of 3.1% of the total number of voters.
Residents of the Gagauz autonomy expect economic stability, reconstruction of roads, construction of kindergartens and new jobs from this election.Â
