Several Moldovan trucks stuck at Turkish borders due to Ankara ban
Several Moldovan TIRs are blocked at the borders of Turkey after the authorities in Ankara have banned the entry of citizens from 68 countries to stop the spread of coronavirus.
The trucks were transporting raw materials for several Moldovan producers, especially material for making facial masks. The information was confirmed by the press service of the Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Six trucks are blocked at Bulgaria's border crossing points with Turkey and two at Georgia and Iraq borders.
The Moldovan Embassy in Ankara contacted the drivers and has made requests to the Turkish authorities to allow them to enter their territory.
However, they propose a solution: Turkish drivers will drive the trucks to enter Turkey and load all of raw materials into the trucks, drive back to the crossing points where Moldovan drivers will take the wheel back.
Carriers do not agree with this proposal, but discussions are ongoing.
