Moldovan citizen detained at Chisinau International Airport for smuggling gold

A Moldovan citizen is being investigated by Customs Service officers for smuggling of precious metals.
Customs officers together with border guards have discovered gold weighing of 655 g in his luggage.
The person has been detained for a period of 72 hours during baggage checking on Chisinau-Istanbul flight. A criminal case has been initiated. The man risks imprisonment of 3 to 10 years.
According to preliminary estimates, the value of gold held exceeds the amount of 350,000 lei.
